This year, National Law School, Bangalore has taken the responsibility of
hosting the examination.
4. When is CLAT scheduled for?
May 11, 2008.
5. What is the examination timings?
3 PM to 5 PM.
6. What is the CLAT Pattern?
CLAT will be an out and out objective type question paper
7. What is the syllabus for CLAT?
Common Law Admission Test would consist of objective type questions on the
following areas :
1) English
2) Mathematical ability
3) General Knowledge
4) Logical reasoning
5) Legal reasoning
8. How many questions are likely to figure
in the question paper?
Though the examination body has not yet indicated the number of questions, CLAT
is likely to have approximately 180 questions
9. How should I apply for CLAT?
There are 3 options:
1) Download CLAT application form from the website www.clat.ac.in. Print it and
fill it up and take a demand draft for Rs 2,000 in favour of Convenor, CLAT
payable at Bangalore. Enclose required enclosures and send it to Convenor,
CLAT, National Law School of India University, Bangalore 560242.
2) Go to the designated branches of Corporation Bank or State Bank of India.
(The designated branches are yet to be notified). Obtain the CLAT application
form by remitting Rs 2,000 in the bank. Fill it up. Enclose required enclosures
and send it to Convenor, CLAT, National Law School of India University,
Bangalore 560242.
3) Send a request letter for CLAT application form to the Convenor, CLAT,
National Law School of India University, Bangalore 560242 along with a demend
draft for Rs 2,000 drawn in favour of the Convenor, CLAT payable at Bangalore.
Upon receiving the application form, fill it up. Enclose required enclosures
and send it to Convenor, CLAT, National Law School of India University,
Bangalore 560242.
10. What is the last date for applying for
CLAT?
April 10, 2008
11. When are the results of CLAT likely to
be announced?
May 17, 2008
12. What is the age eligibility for CLAT?
Not more than 20 years as on July 1, 2008.
13. What is the eligibility
in the qualifying examination?
50 percent marks in plus two examination
14. How many seats are
available in these 7 premier law schools?
NLS, Bangalore : 55 general seats, NALSAR, Hyderabad 48 general seats, NUJS 78

15. Will CLAT have Negative
marking?
No. There will not be negative marking
16. What is the subject
wise distribution of various sections?
No. All Questions are objective type questions, with the following break up of
marks: 1. English - 40 marks 2. General Knowledge - 50 marks 3. Mathematics -
20 marks 4. Legal Aptitude - 40 marks 5. Logical Reasoning - 50 marks.
17. Will any sample paper
be available?
No. The Convenors of CLAT have stated that they may not release a sample paper
